IT Director – London or Manchester
We are partnered with Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, in their search for an IT Director to join them on a permanent basis.
Ofcom’s work covers everything from phones and broadband, through to TV, radio, the postal service, and wireless devices. They’re also taking on the challenge of making the online world a safer place.
This is a vital role for the organisation, overseeing an IT department which together manages internal platforms, cyber security, IT support, AI services and vendor management.
Responsibilities and scope of work:
- Ensuring that cyber security is maintained across the organisation’s infrastructure and core business systems, ensuring a high level of risk management.
- Ensuring IT operational excellence across infrastructure and platforms, maintaining high availability and performance.
- Ownership of service management across all levels of support, including end user computing, desktop and applications, ensuring SLAs are met.
- Overseeing vendor relationships in a complex, multi-supplier environment, ensuring value for money and working to a fixed budget.
- Leading on budgeting and financial management across technology.
- Providing strong leadership to a team of onshore and offshore resources.
- Working collaboratively with the Digital, Data and AI team to achieve long-term technology strategy objectives.
Skills and experience required:
- Proven track record leading IT functions with tight budgets.
- Experience in highly regulated environments.
- Extensive knowledge across IT governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrable ability to manage multiple contracts and vendors in complex environments.
- Experience implementing digital transformations and IT strategies.
- Strong knowledge and experience of Microsoft infrastructure, enterprise architecture, cloud services and cyber security.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- A collaborative approach with a focus on driving stability.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence.
